Kubica sponsor hits back at exit rumours
Robert Kubica's main sponsor has rubbished any suggestion that the Polish driver may fail to see out the season with Williams due to the removal of financial support.
Kubica has finished last on the track in all but one of the nine races this year, having completed an incredible return to the grid after eight years away as he recovered from life-altering injuries sustained in a rally crash.
He has been largely outperformed by rookie team-mate George Russell, in a campaign that has been miserable for Williams ever since they were late to get the FW42 ready for pre-season testing.
Kubica's main sponsor Orlen, the petrochemical company reportedly sponsoring Kubica to the tune of €10million, has previously spoken of looking to find a different seat for the driver, but it has now been claimed that Kubica's poor performance could prompt them to move on entirely.
"Any media speculations regarding the alleged limitation of PKN Orlen's financial support for Williams Racing are untrue," a statement to FormulaSpy.com read.
"The contract with Williams has been signed for the whole F1 racing season and is strictly related to Robert Kubica's participation in F1. It also provides for an option to extend its term for another year.
"The contract precisely defines the terms of financing and the obligations of Williams. However, since its contents are protected by a confidentiality clause, we are not in a position to disclose any details."
