Christopher Bell has hinted at a possible advantage for NASCAR Cup Series rival Kyle Busch this weekend.

The sport has headed to Mexico City for the first points-paying Cup Series race in the country, with a number of teams and drivers citing concerns about the altitude the circuit resides at.

The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez sits 7,500 feet above sea level, which will be the highest elevation the Cup Series has held a race at.

That high elevation means that the air will be thinner, providing a rare physical challenge to the drivers at an already high-effort road circuit.

Bell reveals rival's experience an advantage

Bell was quizzed ahead of the weekend about just how impactful that thin air will be for the drivers, admitting that veterans Busch and Denny Hamlin (the latter absent this weekend after his fiancee gave birth to their third child) are likely to have the best handle on expectations.

"That certainly is the million-dollar question," he told Claire B. Lang, "and I think the answer is that nobody knows.

"I don't know how anybody could say whether the altitude would or would not affect us except for, I guess, the veterans like Kyle Busch and Denny, who have run there in the past. They would be the best gauges of it.

"I did quiz Martin [Truex Jr.] and he said that he didn't remember a lot different back in the day, but that was also a long time ago and the racing has changed a lot since then. We drive hard, we race hard for the entire time.

I hope that it doesn't affect us and I hope that we feel great when we're down there, but you would hate to be the other way and not put enough effort in and then by struggling and let your team down."
