The FIA has confirmed a penalty for McLaren after an incident involving Oscar Piastri at the Canadian Grand Prix.
The Australian star, who has had an excellent season so far, found himself under investigation from the stewards during Free Practice 1 (FP1) for speeding in the pit lane.
At the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve this weekend, there is a pit lane speed limit of 80 km/h being enforced, and unfortunately for the McLaren star, his MCL39 was found to have been in excess of this.
Piastri was deemed to have driven at 80.3km/h, which, whilst just 0.3 km/h over the limit, is an infringement nevertheless.
As a result, the race stewards decided a penalty was necessary, with McLaren hit with a €100 fine, which equates to roughly $115.
