Pierre Gasly considering all options after Red Bull snub
Pierre Gasly has conceded he may be forced to look beyond Red Bull in order to achieve his F1 ambitions.
Red Bull confirmed it had signed Sergio Perez to a two-year contract extension following the Mexican driver's success at the Monaco Grand Prix.
The deal appears to have all but ended Gasly's hopes of returning to the team with which he contested nine races at the start of the 2019 season.
"Beyond 2023, I [will] consider all options as I don’t have anything beyond that," explained Gasly.
“For now, we will see at the time. As I said, these are things that we need to discuss with Helmut [Marko - Red Bull advisor].
“They want to keep me and they want to keep me in the programme but, as I said, we need to see how to make this work and it is just normal conversations that are ongoing.”
Asked if he could race at another team but retain links to Red Bull, in a deal similar to that of Alex Albon at Williams, Gasly added: “At the moment, I would say yes.
"I don’t want to elaborate because I don’t want to make headlines about what is happening.
“And I think my situation is quite clear, when there is something, you guys will know in time.”
Red Bull Perez deal "logical"
Although a new deal for Perez creates a roadblock for Gasly, the Frenchman reflected: “What I can tell you is…to me, it is logical.
"It is not like it is a surprise because I am a very objective person and based on what they expect from a second driver, Perez ticks all of the boxes.
“He is doing an amazing season. He is performing very well this season, is fast and has some good backup financially, is fast with good experience and is a good fit for the team.
“It is not like it was a surprise at all for me but obviously, on the other side, the impact that it has on my career with the ambitions that I have, it is obviously affected."
