Verstappen - Miami Grand Prix 'like a boxing match'

Max Verstappen likened the physicality of the inaugural Miami Grand Prix to 'a boxing match' after claiming his third victory of the season.

The Red Bull driver made his move on title rival Charles Leclerc early on and was able to weather a late charge from the championship leader after a safety car was triggered by a crash between Lando Norris and Pierre Gasly.

Despite Leclerc's best efforts, Verstappen was able to emerge victorious at the Miami International Autodrome and close the deficit in the drivers' standings to just 19 points.

Reacting to his victory at the end of 57 gruelling laps in the sweltering Florida heat, the reigning world champion said: "It was an incredible grand prix.

"Very physical as well but I think we kept it exciting until the end."

When put to him by podium interviewer Willy T Ribbs that he was in shape to be a boxer, Verstappen replied: "I think I will stick to racing but I appreciate a lot, of course, boxing.

"It felt a bit like it out there in terms of how we feel right now but really happy with winning here in Miami, it was an incredible day for us."
