Vettel reveals reason for dire Aston Martin weekend

Sebastian Vettel has suggested his Aston Martin was "too much of a handful" for him after crashing out of the Australian Grand Prix.

The four-time F1 champion ran wide at turn four and spun into a barrier to complete a miserable weekend on his return after missing the opening two races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia due to the coronavirus.

After visiting the medical centre for precautionary checks, explaining his crash he said: "Maybe too much of a handful for me today.

"I think I was probably trying to push too hard and obviously lost the car."

Vettel absence in opening rounds "didn't help"

Asked if part of his struggles were as a result of missing the first two races, Vettel replied: "No, it didn't help.

"Obviously in race conditions, it was the first time and there was a lot of stuff I picked up in the first few laps but unfortunately our race was a bit too short."

As to the specific issues his team are experiencing, he added: "There are too many things going on.

"We have a lot of things we want to improve but we don't have the solutions yet."
