Aston Martin call time on Barcelona test after fire caused by "oil leak"
Aston Martin has called time on the pre-season test in Spain after an oil leak limited Sebastian Vettel to 48 laps on Friday.
The final morning of testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya was disrupted by five red flags, including one for four-time F1 champion Vettel.
After the first hour of the afternoon running had passed without any sign of Lance Stroll emerging from the garage, Aston Martin provided an update.
The team explained: "The team has determined that it was an oil leak that caused #SV5 to stop on track shortly before lunch.
"The oil leak caused a small fire but with the car now back in the garage, we are investigating where the issue came from."
An hour later and it was confirmed the team would be unable to complete repairs before the end of the day.
"Despite the team's best efforts, we will not be running again today," said Aston Martin via social media.
"We'd like to thank the team for all their hard work. We go again in Bahrain."
Aston Martin is the third team forced to end proceedings early, following Alpine and Haas.
UPDATE: Despite the team's best efforts, we will not be running again today.
