Leclerc's unheard radio messages after Monaco puncture
Charles Leclerc's unaired radio messages during the closing stages of his Monaco Grand Prix paint a picture of frustration and concern. Leclerc punctured his right-rear tyre attempting a bold overtake on Nico Hulkenberg at La Rascasse and suffered significant floor damage, which proved terminal.
His latest frustration extends Leclerc's 100 per cent DNF record in four home races across Formula 2 and Formula 1.
Leclerc was displaced on the grid after Ferrari bizarrely opted not to run him at the end of Q1, leaving him helpless as team-mate Sebastian Vettel ultimately demoted him to the drop zone as he sat in the garage.
Although his race started with a handful of bold overtakes, the risky approach would backfire as he clipped the wall at La Rascasse trying to pass the Renault.
The subsequent safety car shook the race up considerably, with Lewis Hamilton winning despite intense pressure from Max Verstappen, who was bumped off the podium due to a time penalty.
The neutralised period gave Ferrari the chance to try and find a way around the damage suffered by Leclerc, but he feared he would crash due to the loss of downforce, and retired after just 18 laps. Check out how the end of his race played out over the airwaves below.
