As one of the main protagonists of Netflix's F1: Drive to Survive series, Nico Hulkenberg has been keen to play down the intensity of his rivalry with grid rival Kevin Magnussen as is displayed in the documentary, and in Bahrain he felt the streaming service's intrusion went just a little too far.

Currently filming the second season of the popular show, Netflix are once again mixing it with drivers in the paddock to create drama.

And as Hulkenberg was chatting to Max Verstappen pre-race, a microphone dangled over his head in order to pick up the conversation, much to his chagrin.

The German took offence to the snooping mic and batted it away before issuing a brooding 'f**k off' to the camera operators positioned nearby.

Hulkenberg has previously discussed how his relationship with Magnussen in the documentary had been 'exaggerated' for dramatic effect.

He said: "“It’s just the usual competition we have in Formula 1. They probably exaggerate a bit and try to sell it more, but generally I think it was well made.

“They’ve made it with sort of movie-like characters, and for insiders some of the scenes are a bit ‘hmm’. The reality is not quite as dramatic.”

It's likely the incident will form part of a narrative in the new season!
