Ocon wants "very cool" Zandvoort to return

Esteban Ocon believes that a return of the "very cool" Zandvoort circuit in the Netherlands to Formula 1 would only be beneficial to the fans and the drivers, as he thinks that he and his colleagues would have the opportunity to go fast on the track.

Zandvoort was previously one of the most popular circuits on the F1 calendar, with the last Grand Prix being held there going all the way back to 1985, which Niki Lauda won.

Recent reports have suggested that Liberty Media, the owners of the sport, are looking into the possibility of the Netherlands GP returning to Zandvoort from 2020 onwards.

Ocon, who has raced on the track in his DTM days, is excited by the possibility of going at speed, but did admit that overtaking would be difficult.

"It's a very cool, old school track," the 22-year-old told the Dutch edition of Motorsport.

"It would be amazing to drive there with the Formula 1, we would go incredibly fast there."

"It's tight, so overtaking is very hard. In DTM I had DRS, but even then it was hard. And with those cars you can drive much closer to each other than in F1."

The Frenchman is currently without a confirmed seat for the 2019 F1 season.
