Alonso tipped to rejoin Ferrari
Sky Sports Formula One pundit Martin Brundle believes that Fernando Alonso will be campaigning to make a return to Ferrari for the 2019 season should Kimi Raikkonen not continue with the Prancing Horse, as the shake-up at Ferrari goes on following the exit of Sergio Marchionne.
This week, it was announced that Marchionne would be leaving Ferrari after complications following shoulder surgery led to a deterioration of his health.
Th Scuderia have moved quickly to ensure the transition is as seamless as possible and have appointed ex-Marlboro executive Louis Camilleri in place of Marchionne.
Alonso enjoyed his best Formula One years with Renault and won his two world championships with the French manufacturer, but was part of the set-up at Ferrari between 2010 and 2014 before jumping ship to McLaren - a move which proved a mistake as the team would not be as competitive as Ferrari in the years since.
In 2009, it was Kimi Raikkonen whom Alonso replaced at Ferrari, and Brundle reckons history could repeat itself this summer.

“I’m very sorry to hear that Sergio Marchionne, the Ferrari boss, is very unwell and not returning,” Brundle wrote in his Sky Sports column following the German Grand Prix in which Alonso did not finish.
“This will have a big impact on the imminent direction of Ferrari and probably F1 too.
“I'm pretty sure that Fernando Alonso will be having a word with the new boss Louis Camilleri in one last desperate attempt to regain a winning car.
“Judging by his on-track performance and radio transmissions in Hockenheim he's at the end of his tether otherwise.”
Alonso is currently on course to claim the motorsport 'triple crown' which includes victories at the Monaco GP, the Indianapolis 500, and Le Mans 24 Hours which has led to speculation he could leave F1 altogether to join the World Endurance Championship.
His current contract with McLaren runs out in the summer with his next team, and future in the sport, remaining a mystery for now.
