Alonso: F1 drivers need to find the right boss
Fernando Alonso reckons that more Formula One drivers should follow his lead and perform in other motorsport disciplines, but recognises that you need to find the right team and the right boss that would allow for such flexibility, like Zak Brown of McLaren.
Alonso is keen to claim motorsport's 'triple crown' which includes victories at the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500, and Le Mans 24 Hours, with participation in Le Mans coming up this weekend when he features for Toyota.
Some critics note that the Spaniard may only be venturing into other sports because he is not currently enjoying Formula One, as he has not won the world championship since 2006, but he is adamant it was always his intention to try other things in addition to his F1 duties.
"People think I'm doing other challenges because things are not going well in formula one. But I was trying to come here [Le Mans] when I was with Ferrari in 2013, when I was winning in F1," Alonso said.

The two-time world champion believes that more F1 drivers should venture into other motorsport disciplines, but recognises that it depends on how flexible your boss allows you to be, with him reserving praise for Brown of McLaren.
"The only problem is that in F1 your boss doesn't allow you to do that. You have to find the right boss," he continued.
"He's a driver inside him and understands the needs of a driver. He then translates his vision to McLaren, which is not just a Formula One team but a wider part of motorsport," Alonso said of Brown.
In May of this year Alonso made his World Endurance Championship debut in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, and won in his Toyota which was his first victory in any discipline since the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix.
