Hamilton "only human" following FIA victimisation claim
Lewis Hamilton has conceded to being "only human" after suggesting he was being victimised by the FIA following the Russian Grand Prix.
Hamilton was handed two five-second penalties for transgressing practice start guidelines as outlined in the FIA race director Michael Masi's event notes.
The six-time F1 champion expressed his frustration over the team radio during the race at the Sochi Autodrom, where he finished third, and again afterwards in media interviews.
Hamilton said at the time: "Of course it is to be expected. They [the FIA] are trying to stop me, aren't they? But it's okay. I need to keep my head down and stay focused and see what happens."
The comments drew a critical response from F1's managing director motorsports Ross Brawn who said in a weekly column that if he were Hamilton he "would go away, lick my wounds and think about how I could prevent such incidences again in the future".
Hamilton has now responded on his social media channels, seemingly atoning for his inappropriate comments.
“I may not always get it right in the face of adversity," said Hamilton. "I may not always react the way you want me to when tensions are high, but I am only human after all and I am passionate about what I do.
“I’m learning and growing every day, and I’ll take my lessons and keep fighting on to the next one.
"Thank you to those who continue to support and are right there fighting with me. Still we rise!"
