Pirelli confirm a team member has tested positive for COVID-19

Pirelli have confirmed that a member of the travelling Formula 1 team personnel has tested positive for the coronavirus and that all health guidance from the Australian authorities is being followed.

Formula 1 have suspended that start of the season until at least the Dutch Grand Prix in May after a member of the McLaren tested positive for the virus. Pirelli have now confirmed that a member of their own team personnel has also now tested positive.

"A member of the Pirelli F1 team has yesterday tested positive for COVID-19 in Melbourne," read a statement from Pirelli. "The person concerned is now following all the relevant procedures put in place by the Australian health authorities.

"These authorities have confirmed to Pirelli that this person has not had any contact with third parties that requires special preventive measures to be taken for other people.

"Pirelli is closely monitoring the situation in line with public health policies and company guidelines."
