Alternative dates being discussed for Spanish Grand Prix
Officials at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya have confirmed that discussions with Formula 1 over changing the date of the Spanish Grand Prix.
Following a joint statement from Formula 1 and the FIA which stated that the season would hopefully resume at the end of May, questions were asked about the future of the 2020 Dutch and Spanish rounds of the championship - both of which are set to take place at the beginning of May.
In their own statement, the Spanish Grand Prix venue revealed that talks of 'different options' have already begun.
The relevant part of the statement read, "Although these measures do not affect the staging period of the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2020 (8 and 10 May), Formula 1® and the FIA have announced changes in the Grand Prix calendar, and we are already analysing the different available options with Formula 1."
The circuit also confirmed that events up to April 19 have been postponed.
