Sainz hits Ferrari simulator for the first time
Carlos Sainz has revealed he is now starting to "work properly" with Ferrari as he took to the Scuderia simulator for the first time.
After spending two years with McLaren, Sainz was unveiled in Ferrari red by team principal Mattia Binotto just before Christmas.
The process of integration into the team has been steadily ramped up since the turn of the year, with the Spaniard enduring numerous meetings and learning processes before finally being given his opportunity of a simulator run.
Speaking via a message on Scuderia Ferrari's Twitter page, Sainz said: "Hi everyone. Hello from Maranello. Finally here, finally starting to work properly with all the engineers, all the people here.
"I'm always meeting a lot of new faces, a lot of new names. That is going to be tough to learn immediately but I'm getting there.
"Yesterday I think I had six-and-a-half hours of meetings, which obviously was encouraging to see already everyone working flat out for this year.
"Today for the first time I'm jumping in the simulator, so I will get to try for the first time the car, the simulator, and start giving a bit of feedback, working hard for this season.
"Thank you very much for the support, we keep pushing, and see you soon. Bye!"
Sainz will get his first on-track taste of a Ferrari later this month in a 2018-spec car at Fiorano in a bid to help to continue his learning of the team, in particular with only one-and-a-half days of testing available leading into the first race in Bahrain at the end of March.
