Hamilton's dedication greater than his talent - Fittipaldi

Lewis Hamilton's success is a product of his dedication and commitment, rather than him being the best driver in Formula 1, according to fellow world champion Emerson Fittipaldi.

Hamilton has wrapped up his sixth world title in 2019, with only Michael Schumacher (7) ahead of him.

The Mercedes star is also nine grand prix wins away from surpassing Schumacher's legendary tally of 91.

Champion in 1972 and 1974, Fittipaldi says that speaks more to Hamilton's graft, while hailing the Briton's ability to transcend F and bring a global audience to the sport through his interests away from the track.

"He is in the top league. I don't know if he is the best, but he is a very important ambassador of this sport," he told Gazzetta dello Sport after taking part in a fan festival to tribute Ayrton Senna.

"Lewis is a character that can bring in more fans, even those not interested in F1 to this sport. An example? My daughter Vittoria is starting to follow F1 said, 'Dad I want to take a picture with Hamilton'.

"Lewis comes from a very simple family and has made himself thanks to his dedication.

"Einstein used to say '20 percent is thanks of your talent, the rest is dedication and sacrifice'. For Hamilton it has been this way."
