Team Penske suffer double NASCAR demotion after Chicago race as Kyle Busch ascends

The latest NASCAR Cup Series standings are in following Sunday's race in Chicago, with Team Penske suffering a double demotion.

Joey Logano and Austin Cindric finished P11 and P27, respectively, in the Grant Park 165, with both drivers dropping in the latest standings as a result. Logano has fallen one spot from 11th to 12th overall, meanwhile, Cindric has dropped three places, from 15th to 18th.

Fortunately, both drivers are already locked into the playoffs, and speaking of the postseason, the battle for the final places this year is really hotting up.

With 12 race winners so far in 2025, a dozen drivers are already locked in, with four spots remaining up for grabs via points, and two-time champion Kyle Busch is one driver looking to lock one of those up.

The Richard Childress Racing star had fallen away from the chasing pack in recent weeks, but his P5 in Chicago has seen him ascend the standings, with the 40-year-old now just 47 points below the cut line with seven races to go.

Bubba Wallace is the driver on the bubble at the moment, with the 23XI driver only three points above Ryan Preece in 17th. Fortunately for 23XI, Tyler Reddick, although also winless, is in a much healthier points position, fifth in the regular season standings and 142 points above the cut line in the playoff chase.

With that said, let's take a full look at how the Cup Series regular season and playoff standings are shaping up following Shane van Gisbergen's victory on Sunday.
