Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch is set for a racing series switch, an official announcement has confirmed.

The Richard Childress Racing driver has another important race in Chicago next weekend, but ahead of the Cup Series event, he is set for an appearance in the Pro All Stars Series.

Founded in 2021, the Pro All Stars Series, otherwise known as PASS, oversees tours for super late models, and it has been confirmed that Busch will take part in their Celebration of America 300 on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 1-2, at Oxford Plains Speedway.

With over 70 drivers entered into the event, the two-time Cup Series champion will race in a 75-lap qualifying event on Tuesday, and then again on Wednesday in the 300-lap main event.

"I've got some unfinished business up there in Maine, so I'm looking forward to coming back up to Oxford Plains Speedway in celebration of the America 300 on July 1st, and 2nd," Busch said in an official announcement.

"So be sure to be there. I'm gonna be running in the Corvetteparts.net number 51 car for Go Fast Racing. It's gonna be a lot of fun to race against all the northerners again.

"I enjoyed it last time, want to go up there this time and get back into victory lane."

Kyle Busch on the playoff brink

Kyle Busch's participation in another non-NASCAR race this week continues a recent trend for the two-time champion.

Perhaps it is a welcome distraction from the playoff chase in the Cup Series, which is really heating up with eight regular season races to go.

Following Chase Elliott's win at Atlanta on Saturday, just four playoff spots remain up for grabs via points, and any new winners over the next eight races would see that number reduce further.

Busch is winless this season and not yet locked into the playoffs, and given that he has not tasted victory since 2023, his best chance of reaching them appears to be pointing his way in.

At present, however, the two-time champion is 20th in the overall standings and 72 points adrift of Bubba Wallace in the playoff standings, who currently occupies the final spot.

Form is certainly not on Busch's side, either. The Richard Childress Racing driver finished 21st at Atlanta on Saturday and has just one top 10 finish in the last 10 races.
