F1 calendar takes shape with Australian GP announcement

Organisers of the Australian Grand Prix have confirmed a date for next year's event as the 2023 F1 calendar begins to take shape.

F1 returned to Melbourne this year after two years without racing in Australia due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This season, Albert Park was shifted from its position as the traditional season opener to become the third race following events in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

The April 2nd date confirmed by the Australian Grand Prix Corporation suggests this will remain the same, although this is still one week earlier than the April 10th of this term.

Next year's calendar is expected to feature 24 races with Qatar and Las Vegas joining the existing roster while France is predicted to drop off the schedule.

The 2023 Australian Grand Prix will see feeder series F2 and F3 race on the support bill for the first time.
