Gasly coy over AlphaTauri upgrade verdict
Pierre Gasly has claimed it is still too early to deliver a "strong verdict" on upgrades AlphaTauri introduced at Imola.
The updated parts have been run on Gasly's AT03 for two races weekends, although rain during the Imola sprint weekend severely limited the team's learning process whilst Miami provided a new circuit to become accustomed to.
The Frenchman also collided with Lando Norris, bringing his race to a premature end.
Asked if the upgrades had delivered what he had hoped, Gasly conceded: "It is still early to make a very strong verdict on that.
"I think Imola was kind of good, [Miami], it didn't mean much, it would have been like a P8 or a P9 finish the way things were going.
"[It is] difficult to say but we will keep pushing and for sure, we are in the fight for the top 10 and on the edge, but clearly we have got to keep working to try and make some steps forward in the coming races."
AlphaTauri "struggling" - Gasly
AlphaTauri ended last year sixth in the constructors', equally the team's previous best placing either in its current guise or as Toro Rosso, despite tallying its best points return.
So far this term, the team is seventh and trails Alpine by 10 points with Haas just one back.
Detailing 'where the team is at', Gasly added: "Still, in the race, I feel like we are struggling a little bit.
"In qualifying, we managed to do a very strong lap but it is so tight and I am not too sure on where we stand but clearly tight, we have got to keep pushing because it is a very tight battle between the midfield."
