F1 "playing with fire" in Saudi Arabia - Hill
Former F1 champion Damon Hill has claimed F1 is "playing with fire" by attempting to race on in Saudi Arabia after a terrorist attack on a nearby oil refinery.
F1 and the FIA met with teams and drivers ahead of second practice on Friday afternoon to explain the information it had been given after a terrorist attack on a nearby Aramco oil depot.
Following this meeting, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali paused only to tell the waiting media: "We feel safe."
Second practice took place to a concerning backdrop of smoke and flames after only a 15-minute delay but after the chequered flag fell, the F1 paddock reconvened for further talks.
This second meeting again decided the Jeddah weekend would continue with Toto Wolff confirming the team principal's had voted "unanimously" in favour of this outcome.
Expressing his displeasure at F1's attempts to preserve the event before the conclusion of the second meeting, Hill took to Twitter, questioning: "How incongruous is this?
"Nothing to be alarmed about. Race on. Will be interesting to see how this is dealt with. F1 literally playing with fire."
