Alonso to get his hands on NASCAR machinery
Fernando Alonso will get his hands on NASCAR machinery after it was confirmed he will take part in a car swap with seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson after the end of the Formula 1 season. The pair have teased a joint venture for several weeks on social media, which was finally confirmed on Twitter.
NASCAR is one of the many series that Alonso has been linked with joining in 2019 as he plots a future after leaving F1.

He has already revealed that a full season is not on the cards, but Alonso remains committed to attempting the Indianapolis 500 as he goes in search of motorsport's 'Triple Crown'.
But he will get a hands-on taste of stock cars the day after the F1 season finale in Abu Dhabi, with a run planned in Bahrain for the car swap.
Johnson says that his Hendrick Motorsports team will offer Alonso the chance to "run as long as he wants to get the full experience."
He added: "They are offering that same thing for me. We offered up the chance to let Alonso come run the Chevy simulator (in Huntersville, N.C.) but the schedule didn't work out from the beginning to do that.
"It's probably a bigger change for me to go from our cars to his, so he suggested stopping by McLaren (and) taking a tour of the shop, the city. I was like, 'Oh yeah, I'll take everything.
"Why not? This is the chance of a lifetime. I'll take everything they will let me do, I'm all for it."
