Further details of Magnussen's Haas deal revealed

Kevin Magnussen has revealed that his freshly signed contract with Haas will run until the end of the 2020 season. The Dane has cemented his Formula 1 standing in almost two years with the American team, having previously endured fitful spells with McLaren and Renault.

Magnussen and team-mate Romain Grosjean were confirmed as Haas' 2019 line-up ahead of Friday practice at the Russian Grand Prix – Grosjean earning his seat once again with an impressive recovery from a miserable start to the season.

By contrast, Magnussen has been much more consistent this year, and his place on next year's grid was rarely questioned. His performances have now earned him a measure of long-term stability.

"I'm extremely happy to continue with Haas for another two years," Magnussen said at the Sochi Autodrom.

"I've had two very good years. Learned a lot and grown a lot as a racing driver and found my place.

"I'm looking forward to two [more] years and maybe more [than that]."

Magnussen's follow-up season with Haas is the first time in his racing career that he has returned for a second campaign with a team, and he believes it has helped bring the best out of him.

"I like having two years because it gives you a long time to figure out what you want to do," Magnussen said.

"You don't have to stress about it already in the first year.

"You can get a feeling for what you want to do a year and a half ahead. You can focus on the future without any stress."
