Kimi Raikkonen fans create pointless petition to keep him at Ferrari
A petition on Change.org campaigning for Ferrari and Maurizio Arrivabene to extend Kimi Raikkonen's driving contract with the Prancing Horse beyond the current 2018 season has reached a staggering 75,000 signatures - and there is no sign the campaigning is reaching its end with more people signing on every day.
Raikkonen is reportedly going to be replaced by Charles Leclerc behind the wheel for Ferrari, with the most recent development suggesting that the change could happen in 2019 with the Finn swapping over to Sauber and Leclerc going the other way.
Fans of 'the Iceman' are not happy at the reports, and have started a petition to Ferrari to ask them to reconsider.
Started by user, Christy John, the petition reads:
"Replacing Kimi Raikkonen just because of an existing deal made by the previous Ferrari head is not justifiable while Scuderia Ferrari's current Head and Sebastian Vettel need Kimi to keep the balance in the team. Kimi has also outperformed Vettel number of times proving he is back on form and his drive in Monza just adds more credibility to that."

The latest update from the petition reads:
"Our petition has currently garnered over 75k signatures. Thank you to all the supporters and let's keep it going... I Know there is no way an online petition will directly affect the internal affairs of Scuderia Ferrari but it still points fingers at what PR value they would be losing and how it will affect the public consensus towards the Team and the Sport if they go against the only Justifiable option. Scuderia Ferrari and Formula 1 certainly would consider all that before making a decision. So let's not lose hope and show them our strength."
Unfortunately for the Raikkonen fans, Ferrari are under no obligation to react or even acknowledge the petition.
