Alonso to make major announcement
A new deal with McLaren? A full-time switch to IndyCar in 2019? A new range of Kimoa caps and t-shirts? We don't know exactly what, but we do know when. Fernando Alonso has teased an announcement to come this week as rumours about his Formula 1 future continue to swirl.
Although McLaren CEO Zak Brown remains certain that success in F1 remains Alonso's priority, whether the team can deliver it is the major sticking point.
Alonso's best finish since returning to McLaren is fifth place at this year's Australian Grand Prix, but the team have slipped behind the likes of Haas, Force India and Renault in terms of performance and reliability since then.
With F1's records now likely out of his reach, Alonso has turned attention to winning the 'Triple Crown' of motorsport, adding a Le Mans 24 Hours victory to his pair of Monaco Grand Prix wins this year.
That leaves just the Indianapolis 500 to match Graham Hill's unique treble, and it seems we may get an update on where Alonso's future lies very soon.

Alonso has certainly been enjoying himself during F1's summer shutdown, but there is no rest for the wicked.
Of course, the Spaniard's break will not quite as long as the rest of his F1 rivals, as his World Endurance Championship commitments take him to Silverstone for a six-hour race with Toyota next weekend.
