Lewis Hamilton: 'I gave it everything'
Lewis Hamilton ends his fourth winning season with a second place in Abu Dhabi. The British driver said he gave it all, but teammate Valtteri Bottas 'did an exceptional job'.
After the race, Lewis Hamilton joined Sky Sports to evaluate the last race of the season. The world champion congratulated teammate Valtteri Bottas on his third race win: "I gave it everything, but Valtteri did an exceptional job. It's impossible to overtake here, well, you need about 1.4 seconds advantage over the car in front. But we have the same car, so there won't be 1.4 seconds between us in ability." Hamilton did manage to get close in the second stint, but said he was then struggling with the downforce.
On the podium, Hamilton expressed his gratitude towards the team: "I want to thank everybody, the team here as well as everyone back in the factory. What they achieved this year is very impressive. It's a real honor to be their driver."
Hamilton doesn't think he will be partying much after the official part of the race weekend comes to a close: "I don't really fancy a party now. I'll be moving around a lot the coming weeks and then I'll probably have some time off, starting around the 18th of december." Tuesday Hamilton will do some testing and after that he'll head to Malaysia, Germany and finally back to the UK.
