F1 team with Nico Rosberg and Twitter for live show

Formula 1 owners Liberty Media have struck up a content partnership with Twitter to produce a live broadcast after each race, called the F1 show, as it bids to update its image on social media platforms and continue to innovate its digital offering.

Nico Rosberg has been consulted to host the show, which will have its first airing after the Barcelona Grand Prix in two weeks time.

The purpose of the show is to get all the latest post-match reaction and analysis from drivers at the track, and give a broader exposure to F1 races to an audience beyond the conventional viewers who are tuning in via subscription television channels.

The partnership will also include the proliferation of post-race video clips to reach the audience of potentially 13 million race fans who regularly share F1 and race hashtags on racedays.

Rosberg is likely to be joined by other former F1 drivers to encourage debate about the race, and it is the latest move from Liberty to attempt to modernise the coverage of F1 on all digital platforms.

What do you think of this development? Will you be tuning in? Let us know in the comments.
