Azerbaijan Grand Prix Factfile: When does the race start? How many safety cars featured in 2017? Who holds the Baku lap record?

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix was one of the craziest races of the 2017 season, featuring safety cars galore! After thrillers in Bahrain and China, Baku will be expected to bring fireworks once again on one of Formula 1's most exciting street circuits.

WHEN IS THE AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX?

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be held on Sunday April 29 at the Baku City Circuit, Baku.

The race will start at 16:10 local time (13:10 BST). Saturday's qualifying session starts at 17:00 local time (14:00 BST).

WHO WON LAST YEAR?

Daniel Ricciardo won, but that doesn't begin to tell the story. Three safety car periods, a red flag, Sebastian Vettel banging wheels with Lewis Hamilton, Hamilton cost victory by his headrest, Ricciardo pulling off a triple overtake into turn one, Lance Stroll taking a podium for Williams. It’s fair to say this year's race has a lot to live up to!

WHO HAS MOST WINS?

Last year was the first staging of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix so Ricciardo is in a league of his own for now. Baku hosted the European grand Prix the year previously, which Nico Rosberg won from pole for Mercedes.

HOW LONG IS THE BAKU CITY CIRCUIT?

At 6.003 kilometres (3.730miles) per lap, the Baku street circuit is the second longest on the F1 calendar. A whopping 20 turns are listed, 12 to the left and eight to the right, while the colossal straight measures 2.2km (1.4miles) making it the longest on the calendar. Another record is found into the Old Town section, where the track narrows to 7.6 metres (25 feet) - the tightest gap F1's drivers must pierce all year.

WHAT IS THE LAP RECORD?

Vettel set the fastest lap of last year's race at one minute 43.411 seconds. The unofficial record was set by Hamilton at 1:40.593 earlier in the event.

WHAT IS THE WEATHER FORECAST?

Temperatures in the high teens and low twenties centigrade are expected across the on-track days, with Sunday likely to see cloudy, cooler conditions with a very small chance of rain.

WHICH PIRELLI TYRES ARE AVAILABLE?

Pirelli will bring the soft, supersoft and ultrasoft tyres to Azerbaijan.
