NASCAR driver reveals the INSANE number of calories he burned during Pocono race

NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Ryan Ellis has revealed an insane statistic following this weekend's action at Pocono Raceway.

After it was reported that Cup Series star Ryan Blaney had collapsed to his knees post-race on Sunday following a cool suit failure, Ellis revealed on social media that he too had suffered the same issue on Saturday.

In his post, Ellis showed a screenshot from an app that showed he had burned over 5,000 calories at Pocono on raceday, sympathizing with Blaney, who he suggests would have had an even harder time in a Cup Series car.

"My cool shirt failed yesterday," Ellis wrote on X. "Burned over 5000 calories (total yesterday) just w the Xfinity stuff, can only imagine how Cup would’ve been for Blaney.

"Didn’t help that after we got dumped, the rear of our car was destroyed & crush paneling was gone, not a lot of non-exhaust air to breathe."

For context, according to Prime Health, the average person running a marathon will burn around 2600 calories. This means that Ellis burned just under the number that someone would expect to burn running 52.4 miles, or 84.4 kilometers, without even taking a step. Crazy.

Blaney's remarkable performance

Ellis finished Saturday's Xfinity Series race in 32nd place, with Connor Zilisch winning the Explore the Pocono Mountains 250 with NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr as his crew chief for the day.

In the Cup Series, however, despite Blaney's cool suit failure and the visible fatigue he was feeling post-race, the Team Penske star finished inside the top three.

The Great American Getaway 400 was eventually won by Chase Briscoe, with the Joe Gibbs Racing star locking himself into the playoffs with a win.

However, he had Denny Hamlin close behind, and very close behind him was Blaney in the No. 12.

Considering a pre-race tail-end penalty, a speeding penalty mid-race, and a cool suit failure, it was some effort from the Team Penske star to achieve such an excellent result.
