Ricciardo's Hungarian GP grid penalty confirmed

Renault have sacrificed Daniel Ricciardo's Hungarian Grand Prix starting position in order to use new engine parts, meaning the Australian will drop to the back of the grid.

Ricciardo was only due to start 18th at the Hungaroring, after a squabble with Sergio Perez ruined both drivers' final laps in Q1 and eliminated them in the first segment.

With the Budapest track notoriously difficult to overtake on, Renault will take the penalties now to avoid being lumbered with them in more favourable races later in the season.

Ricciardo has taken an entirely new batch of power unit components.
