Denny Hamlin has responded to Kyle Busch’s calls for a radical NASCAR change at Dover last weekend.

The 40-year-old raised the issue of drivers using the Next Gen car's rear-facing camera to assist in aero blocking, specifically in tight on-track battles.

Speaking about the growing issue last week before the race at Dover, Busch suggested a radical change to keep overtakes flowing in-race, saying: “I would say that if you run the mirror, you don't get a spotter.

"If you want a spotter then you don't get the mirror, the camera, so pick one."

Busch is not alone in these sentiments, with Cup Series champion Kyle Larson also calling for cameras to be removed over the years.

Hamlin wades into camera debate

Speaking on his Actions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin responded to Busch’s requests and also concurred it would be best to get rid of the cameras.

“Cameras, I’d be okay with getting rid of those…Especially with Next Gen, there is such an advantage by moving your car in the wake of the car behind you…You don’t want to make it easier for the drivers to do that,” he said.

Removing the rear-view mirrors would be the easiest way to make overtaking a little easier, with NASCAR unlikely to change the Next Gen cars anytime soon, although it remains to be seen how effective it could truly be in combating dirty air.

Hamlin managed to overcome poor weather and a double overtime restart to claim his 58th career victory at Dover last weekend, despite a late resurgence from Chase Briscoe, with the clean air aiding the Joe Gibbs Racing driver on Sunday.
