Giovinazzi desperate for 2019 seat

Ferrari junior driver Antonio Giovinazzi has revealed his desire to gain a seat for Ferrari or Sauber in the 2019 Formula One season after impressing during testing following the Hungarian Grand Prix last week, as well as tasting two proper GP races last season.

Giovinazzi featured in both days of testing in Tuesday and Wednesday last week, and impressed when behind the wheel of the Ferrari SF71H by recording the quickest time, while his stint in the Sauber was less successful if comfortable enough.

The Italian is already looking forward to getting a shot of both cars again.

“Tuesday was a good day with Ferrari, Wednesday also with Sauber," he told Autosport magazine.

"I’m really happy. With a full day in the C37, I feel very comfortable and have learned a lot about its behaviour on track. We completed the planned programme which was our target, so I am very pleased. The team has done a fantastic job in developing the car.

"With the data that we collected today, they can hopefully continue to work in that direction. I look forward to being in the car again."

However, the 24-year-old admits that just because he was quick during testing, that does not guarantee him any F1 seat in the future.

"Because I did a good job is not for sure I will have the seat next year," Giovinazzi continued.

“Everything will change. What I will do is my best, and we’ll see if it will happen or not.”
