Verstappen out of Hungarian GP as Red Bull suffer ANOTHER engine failure
Red Bull's Hungarian Grand Prix frustrations were compounded deeper and deeper as Max Verstappen had to retire early in the race with an apparent power unit failure. The Dutchman had qualifed seventh in a race that the team were expected to be competitive in, but he did not last long regardless.
Verstappen had made an impressive start to the race, climbing to fifth off the line, but any hope of chasing down the Ferraris ahead soon went up in smoke.
A furious Verstappen ranted over team radio: "What a fucking joke all the fucking time with this shit, honestly!"
It means Red Bull have had a car retire in each of the last four grands prix, three of the DNFs down to an issue with their Renault power units.
Team principal Christian Horner struggled to hide his fury when quizzed on the incident from the pit wall, confirming that Verstappen was forced out of the race with a failed MGU-K.
"We pay multi millions of pounds for engines, for a state of the art product and it's clearly some way below that," Horner told Sky Sports.
"It's frustrating, I'll let Cyril [Abiteboul, Renault boss] come out with the excuses afterwards."
