What happens to Ricciardo's 'shoey' boots?

What happens to Daniel Ricciardo's racing boots after they've been subjected to the 'shoey' treatment on the podium? Well, thanks to Formula 1, we have something close to an answer as to the destination of those sweaty, champagney Red Bull boots.

The sight of Ricciardo - and others snared into the practice - sipping from his sweat-drenched shoes has become quite commonplace in the past year.

Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco were spared the treatment last weekend after Ricciardo's win in monte Carlo, although Red Bull designer Adrian Newey was not so fortunate...

What of the boots, though? Personally we'd make sure they were never seen again, but it seems some people actually like to hold onto them! *sick face emoji*

A feature on F1's website read: "We asked Red Bull and they told us there's no set plan for what happens post-Shoey.

"Sometimes, the victim who drinks from it on the podium will keep it as a souvenir.

"Other times, it will go to charity. And others are thrown in the team wash and then kept in storage at the factory.

"While race suits and fireproof overalls are worn again after washing, Daniel Ricciardo never wears his race boots twice!

"In terms of who started the shoey trend, Ricciardo said in Singapore 2016: 'It was a few loose Aussies, from what I saw, the Mad Hueys, they're surfies and fishermen. They travel the world fishing, surfing and whatever and they like to drink a bit of beer – and that's where the shoey began.'"
