Supercars champion Will Brown has urged a NASCAR Cup Series driver to try their hand at racing in the Australian and New Zealand-based series.

Brown, who has won the last two Supercars championships with Triple Eight Race Engineering, made his second Cup Series appearance in Chicago on Sunday, having previously made his debut at Sonoma in 2024.

Unfortunately for the 27-year-old, his day ended with a DNF, with the Aussie driver caught up in the early Carson Hocevar wreck.

Despite his struggles, speaking to the official Supercars website, Brown has called for a NASCAR driver to make the switch to the series he races in due to the similarities of the cars used.

"It’s cool that we are crossing over," Brown explained. "It’d be great to have someone from NASCAR come down and race in our category."

Brown continued: “I think there’s always things that are that are going to correlate over from the NASCAR Cup car,”

"They’re a very similar car of what we have."

Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson nearly made Supercars switch

The idea of a NASCAR driver going to race in the Supercars series is not a totally strange idea. In fact, two very big names have very nearly confirmed they were doing so in recent years.

In 2024, for example, two-time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch was reportedly lined up to head down under and race, with a program having been put together by Triple Eight, Supercars, and Adelaide event organizers.

On that occasion, Busch was supposedly set to race in the Supercars and Super2 races but pulled the plug on the move just before it was due to be announced to the public, with off-track commitments in the United States cited.

Kyle Larson reportedly pulled out of a 2025 Supercars appearance

Then, last month, similar reports emerged regarding 2021 Cup Series champion Kyle Larson.

Reports at the time suggested the Hendrick Motorsports star was due to compete at the Supercars Adelaide Grand Final this November, before pulling out following his attempt at the 'double'.

Larson's decision reportedly shocked those who were involved in the project, which was supposedly set to be announced the following week at the time.

It would certainly be interesting to see a NASCAR driver make the switch, but it doesn't look as though it's going to happen this year, at least.
