NASCAR legend reveals what he 'hates' about Kyle Larson in 2025

NASCAR legend Kevin Harvick has revealed what he hates about Hendrick Motorsports star Kyle Larson so far this season.

Larson had a strong start to the 2025 campaign, taking three race victories and earning nine top 10 finishes in the opening 12 races of the season.

However, since the Coca-Cola 600 in May, Larson's form has been far more turbulent, with more finishes outside the top 10 than in. Last week, Larson even went as far as to say it has been the toughest two months of his career that he can remember.

Now, discussing Larson's form on his Happy Hour show after his fourth-place finish at Dover last weekend, former Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick has revealed he hates the inconsistency that the No. 5 is showing at this stage of the season with the playoffs right around the corner.

"At the end, I thought, man, he might have a shot to win this thing, with the tire situation," Harvick said, assessing Larson's race at Dover.

"But they [Larson and the No. 5 team] definitely needed to get back on track and be able to try to get themselves in a position to get the ship righted.

"You've got five more races to do that before the playoffs start," Harvick continued. "But man, I hate that inconsistency. I really hate it."

Kevin Harvick hates Kyle Larson's inconsistency

As Harvick states, there are now just five regular season races to go before the playoffs kick off at Darlington on August 31, when the 16 drivers that qualify will begin their quest for Cup Series glory.

In his criticism of Larson, Harvick points to his Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Chase Elliott, as a driver who does a much better job of keeping things consistent when they are not in contention for the victory.

"I think that's the thing that the [No.] 9 does better than those other three cars," Harvick added.

"Even when they're off, they're figuring out how to finish sixth or seventh, eighth. When the [No.] 24 and the [No.] 5 are off, it just tanks.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Larson does at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend, and if he can indeed find some consistency as the regular season draws to a close.

He will certainly be getting plenty of track time to help him do so, with the Hendrick Motorsports star on double duty in the Cup and Xfinity Series at the Brickyard this weekend.
