Carson Hocevar makes shock admission about friendless NASCAR status

Carson Hocevar has made a surprise admission about his relationship with other NASCAR drivers.

The young Cup Series driver revealed that he doesn't have a single person he'd consider a friend driving in any of the three major series, and has only hung out once with any drivers away from the track.

Speaking on the Dale Jr. Download this week, the controversial 2024 Rookie of the Year admitted that he rarely spends time interacting with other NASCAR drivers even at the track.

That being said, he is close with a number of his iRacing friends, and is building a place for them to hang out in person (and, presumably, split up and race each other within the property).

Hocevar: I've only hung out once with other drivers

Talking about any friends in the NASCAR circle, he said: “Not anyone in the industry...Nope, none. I’ve only hung out one time with any other driver, it was SVG and Bubba [Wallace] at his property, one time."

Long-term, the 22-year-old might be well advised to start building at least casual relationships with other drivers, having already alienated a number of Cup Series stars with his on-track attitude.

Austin Dillon called Hocevar 'the biggest dumbass in the sport' last weekend in Chicago, while Ricky Stenhouse Jr. went off on him in Mexico City, saying later: “I told him I was going to beat his ass once we got back in the States.”

While drivers rarely react well to a wreck they see as avoidable, it's likely that he'd be given more grace – or at least forgiven in shorter time – if he had closer relationships with other drivers. For now, at least, that doesn't seem like something he's interested in.
