NASCAR champion Joey Logano suffers $1 MILLION Cup Series setback

NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano was one of several high-profile drivers eliminated from the In-Season Challenge following Saturday night's race at Atlanta, ending his chance of scooping the $1 million prize.

Starting with the Quaker State 400, 32 drivers are set to go head to head in a bracket-style tournament over five race weekends to determine a winner, with half of the field cut after each race.

Unfortunately for Logano, he was one of several big names eliminated after round one, with Alex Bowman outfinishing him and advancing to the next round, with Logano only placing 36th after being caught up in a wreck and retiring from the race.

Previously, Logano made it very clear that the $1 million prize was enough for him to 'go to work', so it's fair to say that being eliminated at the first race was not what he had in mind.

"You have to race every one of them hard and the same thing with this in-season tournament," Logano explained.

"There's a million bucks on the line. That's plenty for me to go to work. I get it.

"You saw how upset I was at the All-Star Race, right? It's the same number, so I'm gonna be in here."

Elsewhere, the likes of Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Kyle Larson, Ross Chastain and Ryan Blaney were also eliminated, with the race at Atlanta and the wrecks it saw wreaking havoc with the bracket.

With that said, let's take a look at the full round one results below, as well as the matchups for round two.
