NASCAR Cup Series owner admits frustration over lack of results

A NASCAR Cup Series owner has admitted frustration over his team's recent disappointing results, which he's had his own direct impact on.

Brad Keselowski, whose co-ownership of RFK Racing is represented in the 'Roush Fenway Keselowski' name, has seen his team fail to win a single Cup Series race all year.

The team has had all three of its drivers finish in the top 10 in the last two races coming into Atlanta, a promising sign, but they're still in a massive struggle to make the playoffs.

In fact, Keselowski has been his team's leading finisher just twice in 17 races this year, with Chris Buescher coming closest to the post-season so far.

Buescher is currently above the playoff cut line, but only by 38 points (with team-mate Ryan Preece 20 points below the line as things stand), while Keselowski is in desperate need of a victory to make it to the post-season for the third straight year.

Keselowski: We still have reasons for hope

Speaking ahead of Saturday's race at Atlanta, Keselowski said: “We’ve had some really strong races where you don’t get the results, and it’s kind of frustrating, but we’re on a good path. We want wins.

"Strong showings like that are great, and you’d like to think that we’re paying some dues in order to get the wins that we really need, but they’re not wins. I’m very optimistic that we can turn that into something with the weeks we have in front of us, but until then it doesn’t matter.

"With the way this format is we don’t get any bonus for top 10s. It’s all about the wins, but still it’s not a bad problem to have. A lot of reasons for optimism. All three teams have shown some bright spots.”
