NASCAR Cup Series star 'uncomfortable' as contract mystery deepens

NASCAR Cup Series star 'uncomfortable' as contract mystery deepens

Daniel Suarez has admitted that he's sweating on his NASCAR Cup Series future, with his contract coming up at the end of the year.

The Mexican driver has been with Trackhouse Racing since the team's inception in 2021, but was only given a one-year extension at the end of 2024 and is still waiting on his future to be decided.

Complicating matters further is that fact that the team expanded to three Cup Series cars this year, and both of Suarez's team-mates have already booked their playoff places.

18-year-old development driver Connor Zilisch is tearing up the Xfinity Series this year too, grabbing his first oval win in the series at Pocono to go with victory at COTA as he knocks on the door for a Cup Series promotion.

Suarez: I'm uncomfortable in some areas

Speaking ahead of this weekend's Cup Series race at Atlanta, Suarez admitted: “It's gonna be [decided] maybe in a few months, we see what happens.

"There is still a lot of things in the air right now, that is something that I'm just uncomfortable with in a few areas and a few things. But I love Trackhouse, and I love this team, and this team for me is being my best home in the Cup Series.

"I want to have more success with this team, and I want to see this team successful regardless if I'm in it or not. Right now, honestly, everything is an option. All I know is that things are going to work out."

Diving deeper into the numbers doesn't make things look much rosier for Suarez either, having finished as his team's leading driver in a race just five times in 17 races, compared to Ross Chastain's ten.
