Hendrick Motorsports star Kyle Larson has set the record straight on what he says is a big 'misconception' among NASCAR fans.

The 2021 Cup Series champion is often lauded as one of the very best drivers in the world for his ability to succeed in a variety of different racing formats, including on the dirt.

Larson even co-owns his own dirt racing series, High Limit Racing, and on Thursday night, the NASCAR champion's prowess on the mud was on display again as he scooped the win in the A Feature of the Joker's Jackpot at Eldora Speedway.

Post-race, however, Larson took his victory interview to slam those who believe he is 'stepping down' when winning these races, claiming that they are the toughest that he races and competes in.

Kyle Larson: Dirt racing tougher than NASCAR

Speaking to Flo Racing, Larson said: "I think a lot of fans see me race on Sundays and they have a misconception of Sprint car racing that this isn't professional and I come down to win these races,"

"But it is the toughest form of racing that I get the chance to race or be a part of."

The Hendrick Motorsports star continued: "The quality of equipment, the quality of drivers, the fans, everybody involved, partners and sponsors, this is as professional as it gets for American auto racing.

"Happy to be a part of it. Happy to be a part of High Limit Racing and Flo Racing having us on FOX Sports 1 night, so can't say enough about it."

So Happy be a part of it. Happy be a part of high limit racing and flow racing.

Larson's attention now turns to Dover Motor Speedway and this weekend's NASCAR Cup Series action, with the No. 5 team in need of a good result.

Larson has only registered one top-10 finish over the last five races, and with the playoffs right around the corner, it would be a good time for the No. 5 team to re-find the momentum that saw them take three victories earlier in the season.
