NASCAR Cup Series star slammed for 'awful' season

NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. has crushed a Cup Series driver after a series of disappointing results.

Justin Haley has failed to finish above tenth a single time this year, having flipped to Spire Motorsports from Rick Ware Racing late last year.

Speaking on his Dale Jr Download podcast, Earnhardt admitted bafflement at Haley's lack of pace in the No. 7 car, harkening back to his 2024 run with RWR and the 'solid' performances he put in.

Haley sits just 29th in the drivers' championship standings as things stand, with only seven full-time drivers beneath him on points, as he's mired in a run of four races without a top 20 finish.

Earnhardt Jr.: It's been awful

Speaking this week, Earnhardt said: "Justin Haley was a good free agent in this sport.

"He drove for Rick Ware and did some interesting, solid, curious runs in that car, and he has leveraged that into this opportunity at Spire.

"But since he’s been there, it’s been awful, it has been bad.

"They got Rodney Childers in there and I’m sitting there thinking damn that’s an awesome…I felt like that had the potential to be the best Spire car, and it’s been the opposite."
