Haas confirm permanent Magnussen change

Haas has confirmed Mark Slade as Kevin Magnussen's new permanent race engineer ending a period of flux for the Dane.

Magnussen was assisted from the pit wall on his F1 return by Ed Regan.

But during the summer shutdown, it was revealed that Regan was preparing to leave the team with Dominic Haines taking over his duties for the recent triple-header of Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy.

From Singapore onward, however, Magnussen will begin to strike up a relationship with his new race engineer, Slade.

The pair previously worked together at Renault in 2016 and Slade has also headed engineering for Kimi Raikkonen and Mika Hakkinen.

Slade's CV stretches across the paddock with spells at Renault, Mercedes and McLaren.

After a strong return to F1 with points scored in three of his first four outings, Magnussen has since finished in the top 10 just twice and is scoreless in the past five races.

He sits 12th in the drivers' standings although remains 10 points clear of team-mate Mick Schumacher.
