Hamilton turns on F1 media
Lewis Hamilton has turned on the F1 media claiming it is "absolute rubbish" that he criticised the FIA for its handling of the Monaco Grand Prix.
The seven-time champion was one of a number of drivers to question why Sunday's race was delayed with light rain falling at the originally scheduled start time.
The explanation offered at the time by the FIA was that it was done "for safety reasons in consideration that there has been no wet running this weekend".
In reaction to this, Hamilton said: "We're Formula 1 drivers - that's definitely not a good reason."
The comments of Hamilton, and other drivers that also offered thoughts on the delay, generated headlines but the Mercedes driver has now denied criticising the FIA and has instead praised F1's governing body for its handling of the situation.
"So the media are saying I criticised the FIA for the last race but it's absolute rubbish," explained Hamilton on social media. "I thought they did a great job at the weekend.
"Could we have started the race when it was meant to start, probably, but then they would have had to stop it soon after.
"We raced when it was safe and that's what's most important.
"Please don't use me to create a negative narrative."
