Racing Point is confident it can help Sebastian Vettel regain "his mojo" as technical director Andrew Green believes the four-time Formula 1 champion is "not in a great place at the moment in his head".

Vettel has endured a miserable season that was sparked by the announcement just before the campaign started that he would be leaving Ferrari at the end of the year.

In a car considerably lacking in pace compared to its rivals for a variety of reasons, Vettel is on course for his worst season since his first full year in F1 with Toro Rosso in 2008.

The 33-year-old at least knows this year will end positively as he will have his move to Aston Martin to look forward to.

Believing the team to be ideal in the way it can assist a driver, Green said: "We can help Seb. I think he’s not in a great place at the moment in his head. I think he’s lost his mojo a little bit.

"And I think we’re just the best team at turning drivers around and getting them back into their sweet spots. I think we can really help him."

Green believes Racing Point to be more of a nurturing environment, similar to the one Vettel enjoyed at Red Bull, in comparison to the harsh spotlight that has been on him during his six seasons with Ferrari.

'Honestly, that would be the case. That’s who we are," said Green. "But we are very driver-focused as well. We take a lot of time to understand our drivers and work with them.

"We form a really strong relationship and bond with our drivers. That helps to nurture them and to get them to feel comfortable and secure and not worry that things are going on behind their backs.

"We take care of all the politics. It allows them to drive the car as quick as possible. I think we can get Seb back into that place."
