"Mistaken" Perez not treated any differently inside Racing Point
Racing Point technical director Andrew Green is adamant Sergio Perez is being treated no differently as to any other time with the team following his recent "mistaken" outburst.
Green has revealed to being surprised by Perez's remarks ahead of the Russian Grand Prix when he accused the team of "hiding things" from him.
It led to clear-the-talks with owner Lawrence Stroll and team principal Otmar Szafnauer, and a retraction from the Mexican who later declared himself to be receiving "great support" following his fourth-place finish at the Sochi Autodrom.
Asked as to what Perez was currently being excluded from inside the team given his departure at the end of the season, Green said: "We’re not excluding him from anything we’re doing this year
"It’s in our interest to have him as fast as we can get him and for the rest of the season.
"We’re in a fight for the championship. It does us no good at all to treat him any differently – and we haven’t done.
"And that’s why we were surprised that, instead of talking to us about any issues he had, the first we read about it is in the press. So that was a bit strange.
"But then when we spoke to him about it and asked him about what it was he thought we were holding back, he realised that, actually, he was mistaken and weren’t holding anything back. We’re as open with him now as we were before the announcement."
Green has confirmed, however, that naturally no details with regard to the 2021 Aston Martin car are being shared with the 30-year-old.
"One thing that we won’t be talking about is what we’re doing for next year’s car," confirmed Green. "But that doesn’t prevent us from doing the job that we do now for this year."
