Magnussen believes Haas can emulate Force India

Kevin Magnussen has stated believes that Haas can follow in the footsteps of Force India in Formula One and perform above expectations in the 2018 campaign despite not having the resources of the larger teams such as Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull.

Haas have only been an established F1 team for two years, but have impressed in that time, particularly last season under Magnussen and Romain Grosjean.

Force India, meanwhile, have the smallest budget in the field but that did not stop them from finishing fourth in consecutive campaigns, while Haas finished in eighth.

Magnussen is eager to emulate the success of Force India.

"I'm very confident we can go forward and [show that] small teams can do well; Force India are showing that," Magnussen told Motorsport.com.

"If you look at Force India's first couple of seasons in Formula 1, as a new team we've raced and done better, so it's looking good and I think the team is going in the right direction."

The Dane driver previously featured in F1 with Renault, but left them last year for Haas. He thinks that the start Haas has made in the sport is so promising that they could potentially compete with Renault in the championship rankings.

"Renault are doing well, but I just feel very good here and I feel that we can improve and take the fight to Renault next year if we get everything right," Magnussen continued.
