Magnussen blames Hamilton for practice collision
Kevin Magnussen says Lewis Hamilton was "completely unnecessary" in his actions towards the end of Friday's second practice session for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix which saw the drivers make contact. Both were perhaps lucky to avoid serious damage as the Haas swept across the world champion's front wing.
Hamilton appeared to spot a gap up the inside of Magnussen late in FP3, but the Dane swiftly shut the door, leading to sparks flying from the Mercedes' front wing.
The world champion eventually made it past, but Magnussen had no doubt as to who was at fault over the incident.
"I don't know why he was so busy," Magnussen is quoted by BT about the clash.
"There was a yellow flag and the practice was over, so it was completely unnecessary."
Footage which later emerged showed Hamilton and Magnussen tangling earlier in the session, perhaps leading to their moment at the end of the session.
Hamilton then lets Magnussen past a lap later into the castle section - note Hamilton's left hand leave the steering wheel, though clearly not to change any settings on the wheel. #AzerbaijanGP #F1 pic.twitter.com/DsTdrxBaE5
