VIDEO: Hamilton denies Massa in mad Brazil finale - F1 On This Day

One of the most exhilarating climaxes to a Formula 1 season was played out on this day a decade ago as Lewis Hamilton snatched his first world title from Felipe Massa on the last lap of the last race of 2008 – the Brazilian Grand Prix.

A crazy wet-dry-wet Interlagos race ended a topsy-turvy season in fitting fashion – Massa winning from pole to secure the result he needed to beat Hamilton.

The McLaren man would deny the Brazilian a home coronation by finishing in the top five, but it looked as though he would fall short in agonising fashion – having missed out on the title by a solitary point a year previously in his rookie campaign.

However, Toyota's gamble to keep dry tyres on as rain fell in the final five laps would prove Hamilton's saviour as he passed Timo Glock on the final lap of the season – securing a title that the Ferrari garage had already begun to celebrate as their own. Relive the madness below!

If you want to transport yourself all the way back to 2008, you're in luck!

F1 are going to celebrate Hamilton's 10-year anniversary by replaying the entire race in full on YouTube…
